If you were to visit Lockton’s corporate offices in Kansas City, Missouri, you’d find a section on the 6th floor that barricades our team away from the normal non-geekified corporate citizens of Lockton. While several members of our team are scattered around the nation (Texas, Colorado, California) this is our ceremonial home.
Like any home, we are always in the process of decoration. We have a wall covered with industry certifications and a pushpin map of our clients from around the nation. We even have some small plants in dirt (long story) and oddly enough, three beautiful Barbie dolls (an even longer story)! But what I am most excited about is a team photo we’re getting ready to hang at the main entrance of our compound to warn innocent passers-by of the dangers within. Proudly below that photo will be our mission statement:
“We consult and collaborate with employers, achieving their HR Technology goals.
We have created a caring and trusting environment whereby we grow both personally and professionally. To this end, we foster a community in the spirit of cohesiveness and fun.
We are a trusted partner delivering objective consulting, knowledge and value, with utmost integrity.”
I love that.
After almost six years of taking care of clients, we finally got around to hammering out that declaration in our June Confab earlier this year. Everyone participated – which was mayhem – but we all came away with something we can set our compass to. This is our true north, and it’s what employers desperately need.
It belongs on the entrance to our quarter of the floor and it decorates the cubes and offices in which we sit. This is also an outline of what kind of content you can expect to read on this blog – valuable, objective, fun and honorable. If you’re our kind of person – and who out there isn’t an HR Technologist at heart? – please join us in our journey!
And stop by for a visit too. I’ll give the tour and even tell you the story about the Barbie dolls.
